Will Brackenbury is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at the University of York. Following a PhD in Cell Physiology at Imperial College London, and a postdoc in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan, he started his research group at York in 2011 as a Medical Research Council Fellow. His research centres on the role of sodium channels in regulating invasion and metastasis in breast and colorectal cancer. These ion channels are important targets for epilepsy and cardiac arrhythmia treatment and his team is currently exploring the possibility that drugs targeting these channels may have value for metastasis suppression.
