George Poulogiannis is a Reader in Cancer Metabolism and Precision Medicine and Head of the Signalling and Cancer Metabolism laboratory at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. After earning his PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he studied the genome abnormalities of colorectal cancer at the laboratory of Andrew Wyllie and Mark Arends, George joined for his postdoc the group of Lew Cantley at Harvard Medical School to study the signalling and metabolic networks that are associated with the activation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway.
In 2014, he joined the faculty of ICR to lead the Signalling and Cancer Metabolism laboratory, and the research focus of his group is to understand the biochemical basis of metabolic reprogramming underlying cancer growth and progression with the ultimate goal to aid diagnostic stratification and identify novel targets for cancer prevention/therapy.
